A guest and board members at the table of the general assembly

Our story

ASEA came into being on 4 January 2025 in Lomé, through the will of eighteen people meeting in founding general assembly. We are less than two years old, and these are the facts of our founding.

  • Founded in Lomé on 4 January 2025
  • Eighteen founding members
  • Registered under number 0550

The founding observation

Health and wellbeing contribute to the flourishing of citizens. In Togo, the public authorities work to improve the living conditions of the most disadvantaged; the preamble to our statutes recalls that these efforts deserve the support of people of good will.

That observation is what brought together the eighteen participants in the founding general assembly. They read and discussed the statutes article by article, amended them, then adopted them unanimously by acclamation. Our purpose is held in the first sentence of Article 4, and all our actions are tied to it.

Our field of action does not stop at Togo: the statutes provide for twinning with organisations working in the same areas, the framework through which we can run a project elsewhere on the continent.

To contribute to the flourishing of children in need in every dimension.

Article 4 of the statutes, adopted on 4 January 2025

Three founding dates

We claim neither a track record nor impact figures: what we have done will be told here as we do it, project by project. What we can establish today are the facts of our founding.

  1. 4 January 2025The founding general assembly. Eighteen people meet in Lomé, in the Ségbé district, commune of Golfe 7. The agenda holds three items: the reading and adoption of the statutes, the election of the national executive board, and any other business. A board of nine members is elected by a show of hands.
  2. 28 January 2025The declaration. The president declares the association to the Ministère de l’Administration Territoriale, de la Décentralisation et de la Chefferie Coutumière, enclosing the statutes, the minutes of the founding assembly and the list of board members.
  3. 30 July 2025The registration. The ministry registers the declaration under number 0550. We now exist officially, for an unlimited duration, in accordance with Article 3 of our statutes.

Before ASEA: Ahoevivina

The association was called Ahoevivina before taking the name ASEA.

The work carried out under that name is gathered in our gallery: training young women towards financial independence, friendly gatherings, visits to orphanages and the promotion of African culture.

Our first projects

They are being built now, and each one starts with the donations we receive.
